Beautiful simple frame on fluted, tapering legs, and unusually carved traverses. Reupholstered with a beautiful Pierre Frey linen in light grey.

Made by Jean Pierre Louis (ca. 1760- after 1830), stamped J. Louis. Also marked with the inventory mark ML (R)? under a closed royal crown, which indicates that this elegant piece was once in the collection of the French royal family. Bearing French official inventory stamps CVI and 1677. Jean Pierre Louis became master in 1787 ( Reçu Maître Menuisier en sièges on September 5, 1787 opened his studio in Paris in the rue du jour and later worked for the royal family and the Napoleonic court. A set of chairs by him is conserved at the Château de Compiègne and another suite, made for Chateau de Saint- Cloud, was offered in Monaco in 2015 with an estimate of € 90.000.
